Unreasonable

Even Gray has his limits.

As I’m sure you’ve figured out by now, I’m a big fan of continuity, especially on a weekly basis. The theme for this week appears to be “How lazy is Nima?” The answer: Quite lazy, indeed. Though, in my defense, this time I have something different happening in every frame. Go me!

The original title of today’s comic was “On the Deadly Ground of Perdition.” I decided not to use it because A) I’ve noticed I have a bug in the sidebar that has long titles overflowing over the area it’s supposed to occupy (and I can’t figure out where the problem is in my code) and B) with a title like that most people would expect Steven Seagal to have something to do with the comic, and he doesn’t (for both legal and moral reasons).

One might wonder, “To what is the title referring?” Is it Gray that is being unreasonable for moving out like that, or is Red unreasonable for seemingly threatening a bound pig in a blanket at gunpoint? Or is it Mr. Neckington that’s unreasonable for standing idly by whilst this all goes on? I leave that to you, gentle reader, to decide for yourself.

I wholly concede that I’m doing a bit of shark jumping with today’s comic. Does it make sense that Gray would go live with Dr. Dread instead of Dennis or Morty or even the gay ant who’s name I’ve already forgotten? No, but the next couple of comics can basically write themselves. Sweet!

One last admission: I came up with the basic idea for this comic some 20 or so comics ago. I knew I wanted to use the pig in a blanket for something, and I came up with the idea of the gun and whiskey induced stand-off between him and Red. I also knew Gray was either going to be completely bewildered by this and move out, or he was going to not think anything of it and just go ahead and make himself a sandwich. I couldn’t find an adequate kitchen backdrop, so I dropped the sandwich thing. I know you’re all extremely fascinated by the thought process that goes into these comics, so there you go. Now you know.
